ATH (All-Time High)
ATH stands for “all-time high,” the highest price an asset has ever reached. It is a simple historical marker, tracked from an asset’s available trading history, and is commonly referenced in crypto discussion as a benchmark for how far a price currently is from its previous peak.
Why it matters
An ATH is a fact about the past, not a prediction about the future: an asset trading well below its ATH is not automatically “cheap,” and one trading at a new ATH is not automatically overextended. Prices are shaped by current supply, demand and broader market conditions, which have no obligation to respect a previous historical level.
Example
Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies have each set and later broken multiple all-time highs over their trading history. Check current prices relative to recent ranges on our markets page.
