Coingsty occasionally publishes sponsored content: paid placements from projects, exchanges or other crypto businesses. This page explains how that content is labelled, how it differs from our regular editorial coverage, and what a sponsor can and cannot buy from us.
What counts as sponsored content
Sponsored content is any page or placement paid for, directly or indirectly, by a third party to promote a project, product, token or service. It is distinct from affiliate links, which we may place in independently written content and which pay us a commission only if a reader takes a specific action, and it is distinct from display advertising, which sits alongside our content rather than posing as it.
How we label it
Sponsored content on Coingsty carries a visible label — a banner reading “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” — placed where a reader will see it before reading the piece, not buried in small print at the bottom. The label appears whether the placement is a short mention or a full article, because the size of a payment does not change a reader’s right to know a piece was paid for.
How it is handled technically
We also treat sponsored content differently under the hood, so that it never gets mistaken for our journalism by readers or by search engines:
- Outbound links inside sponsored content carry a
rel="sponsored"attribute, marking them as paid links. - Sponsored content is excluded from our news sitemap and news feed.
- Sponsored content does not carry NewsArticle structured data; it is marked as an article with no news-specific schema, so it is not represented as independent reporting to search engines or aggregators.
What a sponsor cannot buy
A sponsorship buys a labelled placement. It does not buy editorial approval, a favorable opinion, a specific price outlook, or influence over our unrelated coverage of the same asset. Our editorial team does not review sponsor copy for favorability, and a sponsor cannot direct us to publish a bullish or bearish claim we would not otherwise stand behind. A sponsor also cannot buy a spot in our regular news coverage disguised as reporting — that separation is the entire point of the label. Our editorial policy and ethics policy set out the same independence commitment that applies here.

Why we bother with this level of detail
Sponsored placements are a normal part of how a free crypto publication stays free, and there is nothing wrong with running them. What matters is that a reader never has to guess whether they are reading independent reporting or a paid message. Spelling out the label, the link attribute and the schema treatment in one place is how we make that distinction checkable rather than a promise you have to take on trust.
